Healthy Exercise to Promote Functional Health

You probably know how much everyone values a comprehensive and regular exercise routine.

It is generally accepted that exercise is one of the major factors that will help people become optimally healthy and give profound health benefits, especially as we age.

Being physically active helps you:

  • Get high-quality sleep
  • Reduce back pain and discomfort
  • Lose, gain, or maintain weight (depending on your needs)
  • Fight the common cold and flu
  • Improve your resistance to infections
  • Lower your risk of cancer heart disease and diabetes
  • Improve your brain power to make you smarter
  • Prevent and relieve chronic pain, including joint pain, osteoarthritis, and musculoskeletal pain
  • Banish depression and improve your emotional health

However, strenuous exercise may put heart health at risk and in fact, research has shown that strenuous activities may jeopardize cardiovascular health. This has been shown in stories where physically fit marathon runners suddenly die in the middle of long-distance running events.

This is because excessive cardio training puts extraordinary stress on the heart, that the body is not designed to endure.

The good news is that a simple routine of interval (anaerobic) training where short bursts of high-intensity exercise is followed by a gentle recovery period, not only beats traditional cardio workout in terms of common exercise benefits, but it also improves the body’s function, human growth hormone production and helps delay aging – and it can all be done in just 20 minutes, and we call it FUNCTIONAL EXERCISE!
